Pathways through the wood

There were paths the grown-ups used to walk their dogs.

They tended to be muddy and best avoided.

There was a path that was clear at the start

but came to an end in a glade of trees

with moss on the ground,

then broke off different directions.

There was a path I liked to walk on my own

because it led to a good tree to climb.

But the best path I ever walked,

was a new path I made

through the bracken

with my friend.
